Mirages' new OM replacements are here and they are exceptional. We've been waiting for the new series and it was worth it. The new series is OMD or OmniPolar Design. The new design features the OMNIGUIDE™ technology. OMNIGUIDE™ was introduced in 2001 and was subsequently granted worldwide patents in 2006. This breakthrough acoustic solution, designed by Andrew Welker, allows loudspeakers to radiate sound in a uniform 360-degree radiation pattern. Four additional years of continuous research and development have resulted in a loudspeaker series that sets new standards for a streamlined and petite footprint omni-directional speaker. The result is the astonishing OM Design series, capable of creating a convincing illusion of a live performance.

The sound of the OMD series is open, spacious and highly detailed. It is in the tradition of the OM Series that the sound offers the listener so much detail and shading without being fatiguing. Creating an incredibly lifelike sound, the new OMD series guarantees a listening experience unlike traditional front firing or monopole deisgns. Flagship OMD-28
The OM Design series flagship model is the OMD-28, a floorstanding speaker featuring a complex curved cabinet design finished in exquisite wood veneers. The OMD-28 combines uncompromised 2-channel audiophile performance with the benefits of OMNIPOLAR technology.

All drivers and components used for the OMD-28 have been specifically designed for this particular model and are custom made to guarantee superior performance. These drivers are housed in heavily braced but beautifully curved and laboriously finished cabinets.

OMD-15
The OMD-15 is a slender 2.5-way tower speaker featuring an attractive cabinet style and Mirage’s latest generation of OMNIPOLAR technology. As part of the OM Design series, it shares many of the OMD-28 flagship model’s sonic characteristics. The bottom section of the cabinet features a 5.5" woofer in a down-ported transmission line enclosure. This ingenious design allows the OMD-15 to generate exceptionally low frequency reproduction considering the very small footprint of the cabinet.

OMD-5
The smaller design offers exceptional placement options.Although it doesn't offer the same scale of performance as its bigger brothers, the OMD-5 is an an excellent mini-monitor that can be used in smaller rooms or as part of a low profile home theater system.

Couple it with the matching center speaker and you've got a home theater system that will stun everyone with Mirage's legendary deep acoustic soundstage. You'll be amazed just how good -- small -- can sound.

SUMMARY
The sound is what sets these speakers apart. Attractive is easy. Designing an attractive yet superb sounding speaker... not so easy. The acoustic signature of these speakers is in the Mirage tradition of being open, transparent and accurate. But how they stand apart from other designs, is the way they create a sound stage that envelopes the listener. Omnipolor designs can do that. Even well designed monopole designs don't create as deep a soundstage as these speakers do. For some listeners, they've commented that the speakers just disappear and all they're hearing is just the music and the stage the music was created on. We agree.
