Lexicon
MC-12
Lexicon,
known for it's professional digital products has developed and
delivered a knockout punch on the high-end processor market. From
every significant standpoint, the new Lexicon MC-12 delivers over
it's previous incarnation, the MC-1.
The Lexicon MC-12 is here, installed and we're shaking our heads,
muttering profound superlatives, like "wow", "yikes"
and other monosyllabic words of disbelief. It is a staggering
accomplishment by Lexicon.
It is that good. It is killer. Don't believe us? Understandable.
What does the press say?
"The MC-1 was great - this is mind-blowing."
"...you're bathed in a soundfield that's totally immersive.."
"The level of detail this processor extracts is jaw-dropping"
The MC-12 offers 5.1 channel inputs, component inputs and outputs,
digital bypass for 2 channel, 3 zone capability with high bandwidth
component video switching. The list goes on and on... Suffice
it to say that the MC-12 offers a full-featured rear-panel that
lacks nothing. Balanced inputs and outputs are available. Overall
the build quality is exceptional. The lighting display, front
panel look and feel, all exude the highest of level of refinement.
Without exception, everyone has been impressed with it's sonic
performance and ease of operation. It eclipses every preamp/processor
that has graced our ultimate home theater room. There is a naturalness
to the sound, an ease even in the most demanding and unforgiving
movie passages.
Listening to the soundtrack on the "Hobbit", the orchestra
is presented with a depth and expanse that makes you realize this
isn't a soundtrack you're listening to.. it's an orchestra! There
is no compression of scale, and yet each instrument has its own
space and placement. One is immediately struck by the incredible
quiet. Digital when done well offers an incredibly low noise floor.
The MC-12 delivers a sound floor that's 2 floors below your feet.
Its that quiet. Yet the sound is not compromised in any way by
digital processing. The naturalness of instruments and voices
is instantly apparent. The result is that you are drawn instinctively
into the movie, no longer critiquing the sound quality. You're
enveloped.
If you have time, you MUST stop by and listen to the MC-12, and
hear what many regard as the finest preamp/processor in the world.
When you leave, you'll be shaking your head in disbelief.
It is that good.
