Whole house amplifiers are required to deliver wattage over long
runs of speaker wire. This is electrically difficult for any amplifier.
They are then installed into tight, poorly ventilated cabinets.
Again, not a nice neighborhood to live in. They are then asked to
run nearly 24 hours a day. You want to an amp to break? Follow these
three steps: Low impedance loads, poor ventilation and run it 24/7.
These demands will not be met by conventional consumer amplifiers.
What is needed is an amp that was designed for these criteria.
The Crestron Home® Professional Audio Amplifiers are Crestron's
residential audio amplifier series. Crestron amplifiers are designed
to meet the demands of a whole house audio and video solution. Built
to meet the demands of delivering music throughout the home, CNAMPX
amplifiers are designing to achieve excellent sound quality and
years of trouble-free operation.
The amp runs over a Crestron control network (Cresnet®) and
is typically installed in combination with the Crestron CNX-PAD8A
or CNX-BIPAD8 professional audio distribution processors. The amplifier
provides remote system power on/off. Ambient temperature within
the enclosure is reported via Cresnet and is available as Fahrenheit
or Celsius. These signals can be used to reduce the audio volume,
activate an external cooling fan, or turn the unit off under program
control.
Massive toroidal transformers provide pure, continuous power to
the amplifier modules. Crestron's Detachable Modular Component design
of each module allows for rapid repair in the field. Both channels
of each module have their own power supply and filter capacitors
ensure a wide dynamic range. Cool operation is ensured with more
than 300 square inches of radiating heat sink surface contained
in each channel.
As you can see, the demands of a multi-speaker, multi-source solution
are different from the needs of a two or five channel home theater
component. Crestron amplifiers are without question the finest in
residential multi-room, multi-zone solution on the market today.
